The task set by the team has been to present a vision for Bhiwandi. The attempt made was free to analysis, and test ideas regarding the development of the city of Bhiwandi. The core idea of the proposal is to provide modern infrastructure, natural areas and cultural environments, meeting places and recreation, commercial and housing with varied urban structures. Our vision includes a dense and urban settlement, with clear links in time and space. Certain key elements like Urban Katta, Rotunda and Strip Malls were introduced to channelize high quality urban environment close to heavy traffi c. The total area to be developed was divided into different categorize of residential zone and institutional development. Phasing strategy was developed through intervention in nexus created by road in master planning options. We propose a robust structure that is transparent and clear, while being open to change.
