The Emerald Island project is a measure to revitalize the tourism landscape of Maharashtra. With various attractions like an amusement park, Water Park, Bollywood studios, golf course, convention centre, fi ve- star to budget hotels, etc. Emerald Island will cater to vast segment of people – from families to business travelers and from leisure to adventure seekers. There will be many benefits that will accrue from the development of Emerald Island like increase in foreign exchange earnings of thecountry, huge employment opportunities and setting higher standards in tourism sector. One of the most signifi cant features of Emerald Island is that it would be developed using green technology, eco-friendly and low emission materials so as tonot disturb the natural environment within and surrounding the island. Renewable energy resources like solar, tidal, wind, etc would provide the power supply required for the island. The vision for project is to create a superlative tourist destination – one that has not yet been seen in India. Emerald Island shall emerge to become the crowning jewel of Maharashtra.
